WHY YOUR TELEPHONE BILL IS SOARING

The Baby Bells were originally a result of the break-up of good ol' Ma Bell. With the current state of the telecommunications industry and the new laws governing them, they are once again merging. Leaving you, the customer, stuck with whatever regional Bell and hostage to their ever-fluctuating rates.

American business has traditionally been able to bring you optimum goods and services at minimum prices because companies had to compete with one another to survive. The Bell System has not had to. They are regional monopolies. And they re-invest enormous amounts of the dollars you pay them to keep the status quo. They spend millions yearly in advertising, public relations, and lobbying efforts, so they will not have to compete in the marketplace. This is even though they say that there is healthy competition.

In terms of increasing rates for its services, the Bell System had plunged you into double-digit inflation long before the phrase was in common use. If you have any doubts, just look at what you've paid for telephone service over the last six years. If you had a basic monthly bill of $100 six years ago, it would be in excess of $300 today.

After all, when was the last time the Phone Company told you how to save any real money on your telephone bill? Since they haven't made it their business, we're making it our business. And it won't cost you a thing unless we save you money.
